Mary Ann Gibbs, 80, died Monday afternoon in Crawfordsville. She worked for RR DOnnelley & Sons for a number of years. She served as Deputy Montgomery County Recorder for three years before being elected county recorder in 1984 and again in 1988. After completing her second term she continued clerking in the recorder's office before retiring in 1997.
She was a member of First Baptist Church and the Alpha Chi Sunday School class. She was a Careshare leader and Meals on Wheels driver. She graduated from Waynetown HS. She was born APril 5, 1929 in Lansing, Ill to FLoyd and Edna Bray but lived most of her life in Montgomery County. SHe married Jim Gibbs in 1949. Survivors include children Treena Wilkins, Aurora, Ill and Barry Gibbs, Panama City Beach, Fla; 3 grandsons; one great granddaughter and one great grandson.
Friends are welcome at the funeral service scheduled for 11 a.m. Monday at Hunt & Son Funeral Home. A private family burial will be at Waynetown Masonic Cemetery.
